Dhokra at its best. This collection is perfect for those who understand the process of Dhokra and can appreciate the fundamental difference between the Dhokra Items produced by different tribes across India. This set of Musical Ganesha carries the “Earthy Finish”. Each and every piece is unique and yet has a certain similarity. This set gives us a glimpse of how a typical dhokra in Raw Shape would look like. Not all the people would be able to admire this but for us its Dhokra art at its best. This set has reached a new level of perfection, and the craftsman has simply outdone himself. It is simple yet complex, raw yet beautiful.
A set of 5 Ganesha’s with different kind of ancient Indian Musical instruments like Dholak (ढोलक) , Jhaal (झाल) , Shahnai (शहनाई ) etc. carefully casted and showing Dhokra’s initial form without much of the finishing work done over it. Just to show all Dhokra lovers as to how it looks when it comes out of the casting process. That’s how we named it “Earthy Finish”. An exclusive piece and truly a collector’s item.
Dhokra art is one of the earliest known methods of non-ferrous metal casting known to human civilization. This sort of metal casting has been used in India for over 4,000 years and is still being used. Currently this craft form is prevailing mostly in to the States of Pashim Banga, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand of India. On a relatively unknown basis this craft form is also prevailing in the southern states of India and some villages of Himanchal Pradesh. A very fine example of this very traditional & ancient art is the dancing girl of mohenjo-daro.
Dhokra art is totally handmade and completely unique. It is made of Brass as base metal used with bell metal and other alloys. The special quality of these handicrafts is that it does not have any joints. It comes in one piece as a whole. Since each and every piece of this artifact is being casted using a new handmade mold, hence each and every piece differs from each other. They will just not resemble each other completely. Here lies the exclusiveness of dhokra craft.
